Ombré, balayage or highlights, what's the difference?

Ombré Hair is a hair lightening method, in which the dark root is maintained to create a natural gradient effect, from root to tip. the lightening is intensified up to the ends.

Balayage is a French word meaning "sweeping". It's a coloring technique that gives you a supernatural "beach".
Balayage is a more natural technique than total hair coloring. It's the ideal choice if you want something subtle or to intensify the natural shine and add a new dimension to your hair.
Ombré is more horizontal and Balayage is more vertical, in short, Ombré is little more than a style; Balayage is a technique.

Highlights
Highlighting hair means isolating a few strands of hair and treating them with a dye or lightener to make them lighter than their base/natural color. … This can be used to get a more natural look or create highlights in the hair.
Traditional locks use a “foiling” technique in which the hair strands are lightened from root to tip in a specific cut pattern, leaving a bit of natural hair between each sheet.
